About the event
In this in depth workshop, we will discuss the power of culinary & medicinal herbs that can be used in your home kitchen to help bring wellness and taste to your family & table. Amanda will take participants through 3 methods of herbal kitchen use: vinegars, salts, and compound butters. Participants will make their own herbal vinegars & salt to take home. We will feast on fresh sourdough bread & compound butter! And we will spend time in community learning and growing together.
Amanda Moon Callahan is a farmer, private chef, meal planning wizard, and a birth & post-partum doula. Amanda is passionate about whole food, from-scratch cooking focusing on seasonal and local ingredients. She teaches, cooks, and nourishes from the heart – focusing on foods that bring joy and create happiness for mind, body, and soul. She is a novice herbalist and incorporates plants and herbs into all aspects of cooking. Co-owner of Callywood Farms, her family raises animal welfare approved chicken and pork. They manage a large family garden and cultivate culinary mushrooms. She offers private chef services for in home cooking and events, as well as working with individuals and families to educate and make changes to kitchen skills and meal planning. She writes and develops recipes for the Clemson Area Food Exchange. She resides in Westminster, SC.
